Explore the town of Corfu

There are plenty of ways to spend a day in Corfu Town – but if you have one day and want to make the most of your time, here are the places you should visit.

Start your day with a stroll around the Old Town. This UNESCO World Heritage site is full of Venetian architecture, winding streets, and hidden squares. Make your way to the Town Hall and then on to the Liston, a colonnaded promenade lined with cafes, bars, and restaurants.

Next, head to the New Venetian Fortress, a 16th-century fortress that offers stunning views of the town and surrounding countryside. From here, you can also see the Palace of St. Michael and St. George, which was the former home of the British governors of Corfu. In the afternoon, take a walk through the town’s bustling markets. You’ll find everything from fresh produce and spices to clothes and souvenirs.

If you’re after some stunning views, head to Mount Pantokrator which is an hour's drive away from Corfu town. At 906 meters, it’s the highest point on the island and from the top, you can see miles ahead.
